Nicolás Pereyra


Montevideo, Uruguay, on July 16, 1982.

At his 15 he became interested in photography. In 2005 entered as a photojournalist at the newspaper El Pais in Montevideo. In 2009, he was appointed editor of the photographic supplements, and since 2011 he is the main editor of the newspaper's body. Throughout those years he did several coverages, among which he emphasizes Brazil's World Cup in 2014. In July 2015 he became Chief of Photographer. He is still taking care of the newspaper's body edition, supervising supplements and monitoring of all materials related to the organization of the section. In 2013 he published his first book, Ataraxia (Ediciones de la Plaza), which contains part of the work from his first show, Obligatorio, and some other more recent materials. This year he is working in the edition of a new book, Yo quiero a Max, work that was partly shown in late 2015 at the Pera de Goma in Montevideo. Since the beginning of 2015 he is full time professor of photojournalism at the Faculty of Communication at the University of Montevideo, this same year he has founded along with other colleagues, El Ministerio Ediciones, a publishing house that specializes in authorial photographic books, and has as well a section specialized in file image from Uruguay.
